HOMOLOGATION OF INTERMITNS

HOMOLOGACION DE INTERMITENTES

What the regulations on Headlights and Front Optics says:

The vehicle reform manual, in point 9.2, for vehicles of category L, reads:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

"The installation of spare parts or spare parts will not be considered reform"

Flashers can be conventional, light bulb, or LED technology, which are become more common

How to Interpret Regulations:

Being strict with the definition of spare parts, only intermittents that are the same as those in the standard motorcycle would be accepted. Therefore, reform would be considered to replace the intermittents with others of different morphology, as well as the change of location of the original turn signals.

That said, in periodic inspections on ITVs it is rare for them to put problems when the new flasher maintains the original position and has a European approval password engraved on the glass. We understand that ITVs generally use a broader meaning of the word "spare parts" allowing such changes, although obviously there will be ITVs that do not.

What is needed to be able to approve a change of turn signals:

According to the reform manual, for the legalization of such reforms, only a Compliance Report, issued by a laboratory, is required, attaching a Workshop Certificate demonstrating the correct installation.

The issuance of the Compliance Report shall require the following:

• An engraved number 11 (when the turn signals are on the front of the bike.)
• A number 12 engraved (when the turn signals go on the back of the bike)
• The numbers 11 and 12 engraved allow installation on the front or rear of the bike interchangeably.
• Code 50R-xxxxxx, where (X) is replaced by a 6-digit number.
• A Circle that has inside an E letter, plus a number corresponding to the country of manufacture of the flasher.

Comply with minimum heights and distances that, although regulated by regulations, there are laboratories that require additional compliance under their own criteria. This is why we indicate these measures, and the laboratories can establish additional criteria.

1.- Minimum front separation 240mm
2.- Minimum rear separation 180mm
3.- Maximum distance from rear to pilot 300mm
4.- Minimum separation from front crossover light depending on flasher CDs (there are 4 options)
5.- Minimum rear height 350mm
6.- Maximum height 1200mm

How to proceed:

Today, all reform laboratories allow intermittent approval regardless of whether they are conventional bulb or LED bulb.

What if it should be taken into account, in addition to the details set out in the section "How to interpret the regulations", these must be engraved with the legends described and must be installed in the same position of the replaced flasher.

When we replace a standard flasher and equipped with an incandescent bulb with one of LED bulbs, provided that it is installed in the position of the replaced flasher, this reform is not considered such, so it should not be approved in any tab.

However, when we replace and relocate the flashers, installing them in a different position than the original, we must take into account, that a number of measures detailed in the following visibility scheme must be respected:

We should also keep in mind that in the face of the appearance of rear turn signals incorporating position light and some also brake light, these must also be engraved with the codes outlined above.

The separation between each of the turn signals, both front and rear, today, is the interpretation of the Vehicle Approval Laboratories.

For the Legalization of such reforms, only a Compliance Report is required, issued by a laboratory, attaching a Workshop Certificate, demonstrating the correct installation

Attention: Many owners of modified bikes, take the easy path which is to hide the modification and install the standard part when introducing the to the Periodic Review of the ITV, and then proceed to change it again. We recommend that you legally approve all modifications made to your vehicles.
